A teacher and also a relative of mine brought a shaving machine for repair. I pushed the power button and it did not come on. On the screen I saw a message to charge the device. Once the machine was fully charged, there was no indication of a life in it.

I took the razor heads off just to make sure the blades were not stuck prohibiting the motor from spinning. That did not solve the problem.  I saw a lot of hair left on these blades and it could be that the customer did not clean his machine for a while forbidding the motor from going either side. That was my plan next. Clean the motor and the blades.

I took two screws off from the top of the machine and the head came off. It was full with hair and as I expected, the hair was blocking the blades from going from side to side

I took this picture after the cleaning but still you can see hair on the side and inside the machine. I had to take the whole head off and do more cleaning. how to repair shaver

Still more hair inside but finally it was cleaned all the way down to the motor.

Now the previous two photos, shows a tricky combination of holes that suppose to go inside each other. When the motor spins, it will spin the white arm with the hole in it, causing all the blades to rotate and do the shaving. It took me a while to put them together but finally it was done.

A very important thing to remember; is to not spray any kind of liquid inside the shaver till every hair inside is removed. If you put any kind of contact spry inside while it is still dirty, the liquid will be mixed with the hair causing it to be blocked more.

It was an easy repair, an easy income and another satisfied customer.

Mission accomplished.

Excellent! I use electric shavers and it requires thorough cleaning periodically!

Thanks for the article Waleed. I assume you must have had bad experiences before with the spraying liquid inside dirty shavers, and that you did use contactspray afterwards?
As far as I know there only exist 2 kinds of electric shavers, shakers or rotating head shavers. And this fixed one must be a shaker. After previous patents on design and manufacturing are given free, manufacturers like Philips and Braun (and probably Panasonic and many others) each share the shaker or the rotating head shaver design for about 7 years or so. After that period they both have to exchange the design to the other shaver patent. So they aren’t allowed to produce the same shaker or rotating head shaver simultanous. But maybe that’s changed since then. It is like Xerox who invented the famous copy machines and now everyone is allowed to manufacture their own copy machines on the old xerox patent that had expired. Cheers!

    Good Job! Waleed

Sometimes these repairs require a thorough approach that isn’t really electronics related but experiences shows that it is definitely a requirement for success.
    Good job!

I have this model and replaced the rechargeable batteries with eneloops as the originals didn’t last long.

I have the same shaver and the good news is that while the batteries don’t last long, they can be replaced by AA rechargables.
