A regular customer brought this power supply to my shop for repair. He explained that this power supply died suddenly. His wife who owns a beauty Parlor told me that she needs this power supply as soon as possible due to the fact that the device that runs on this power supply is down and cannot supply the customer’s needs until it is fixed.

As you can see, it is a high rate amp power supply.

I have seen this power supply before and I know exactly what the fault was.

All I have to do is cut the electrical tape off to get inside of this power supply. Once I did that I saw this.

Obviously someone has been inside this power supply because I could see the work of the re soldering all over this board.

Here is a closer look of this board and it seems like re soldering of this board did not solve the problem because this power supply is sitting in my shop to be fixed.

The first thing to do was to clean the board and check for bad connections. After doing all that, I took my ESR meter out and checked all the capacitors in the primary and secondary section of the power supply. I came across this.

This capacitor that was hiding inside showed me a high ESR reading and therefore it has to be replaced.

This is the image of the pins of the capacitor from the other side of the board.

This capacitor was the problem and replacing it with a new one brought this power supply back to life. Take a look
